Celebrate the Holidays at Hillwood: Volunteer Discounts & Display Information

During this time of gratitude, we are delighted to share a few special perks as a thank-you for your dedication and hard work. Below, you’ll find information about exclusive volunteer discounts on memberships and select museum shop purchases, upcoming holiday programming, and a preview of the newly installed holiday décor now on view in the mansion and visitor center for Holidays at Hillwood: Glamorous Greetings.

Membership Discount
As a token of our appreciation, we’re pleased to offer volunteers a 25% discount on new memberships, upgrades, or gift memberships from Individual to Donor levels throughout December, starting Monday, December 1. Please note this offer is exclusively for new memberships, upgrades, or gifts and does not apply to renewals at your current membership level.

If you are currently an Individual or Dual/Family member, this is a wonderful time to upgrade to Contributor-level. With your volunteer discount, the Contributor level is $112.50 (regularly $150) and includes access to three reciprocal networks: North American Reciprocal Museums, Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums, and the American Horticultural Society – providing free or discounted admission to hundreds of museums, cultural institutions, and gardens.

How to use your discount:

  1. Complete the membership form and follow the mailing instructions.
  2. Call the Hillwood Membership line at 202.243.3939.
  3. Pick up a printed form and envelop in the Butler’s House on the staff side. Completed forms may be left in the sealed, locked box located next to Erin Allen’s office; membership staff will collect them daily.

Museum Shop Discount
We’re excited to extend a special thank-you with an exclusive 30% discount on all non-clearance items, available December 3–19 in store and online. Additionally, the museum shop will host special volunteer and staff shopping hours on Monday, December 8, from 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Whether you stop by in person or shop from home, we’re happy to offer both shipping and in-store pickup options.

Holiday Display Information

Our Horticulture team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the holiday décor, on view beginning Tuesday, November 25. Glamorous Greetings: Holiday Tree Rotation at Hillwood draws inspiration from the special exhibition From Exile to Avant-Garde: The Life of Princess Natalie Paley with glittering Christmas trees and holiday decorations throughout the estate.

Volunteer Holiday Display Tour

December 9-12 (Tuesday-Friday), 10:15-10:45 a.m.

Get an intimate look at Hillwood’s holiday decor on this tour of the mansion and grounds hosted by Ami Wilber, floral and event décor designer. Tours are limited to 15 volunteers and depart from the horticulture breakroom. Please use the links below to sign up for a workshop:

Volunteer Holiday Wreath Workshop

December 10 and 11 (Wednesday and Thursday), 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Be inspired and create your own unique holiday wreath of wintery greens under the guidance of gardener Matt Boyle. Space is limited to 16 volunteers per workshop. Workshop takes place in the Dina Merrill Pavilion. Cost is $10. Please use the links below to sign up for a workshop:
