Hillwood is pleased to share a few staff updates and welcome a new staff member to the Hillwood team.
Visitor Services
Please congratulate Marisa Gonzalez, Hillwood’s new visitor services coordinator. Marisa moves to the visitor services department starting on Monday, April 17. Building upon the skills she’s gained from overseeing the volunteer program, Marisa will help lead the visitor services staff in providing the best possible visitor experience. Her new role with utilize Marisa’s superb customer services skills and provide her with the opportunity to work more closely with our visitors and members as well as volunteers when on-site in the visitor center. Marisa’s schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday.
Volunteer Programs
Please welcome Sabrina Utz, Hillwood’s new volunteer programs coordinator. Starting on Monday, April 17, Sabrina will oversee volunteer scheduling, communication, recruitment, and overall support of volunteers in their roles at Hillwood. She brings a strong background in museum operations and volunteer management from Tudor Place Historic House and Garden in Washington, D.C., where she planned and led their summer docent recruitment and training. Sabrina’s work experience has been enriched by her studies at Roanoke College, Salem, VA where she obtained a bachelor of arts degree in history with a concentration in public history. Sabrina’s schedule will be Monday-Friday and her office will be located in the Butler’s House. Her contact information is provided below. Sabrina and I will be making the rounds on campus to introduce Sabrina to the volunteers starting in mid-April.

People and Culture
In keeping in line with Hillwood’s recent change from Human Recourses to People and Culture, my title has been updated to Head of Volunteer and Employee Engagement. I will continue to oversee the volunteer department and manage the new volunteer programs coordinator while also supporting staff engagement and training.
