Survey Results: On-site Volunteer Service

Thank you for participating in Hillwood’s recent volunteer survey regarding on-site service. The survey was open for one month from June 3-July 7. During that time, we heard from 198 volunteers or 67% of the volunteer cohort regarding their availability and concerns for on-site duties. We were very pleased and encouraged with the responses. Keep reading for the highlights from the survey results.

Comfort Returning | Of the survey respondents, the majority of volunteers (64%) feel very comfortable returning to on-site service.

Concerns for On-site Service | The largest concern volunteers have is visitors not adhering to safety protocols. We are happy to report that throughout the pandemic we have seen great compliance amongst our visitors following the safety guidelines.

Ranking Safe Measures | When ranking safety measures, hand sanitizer provided was the top pick as very important. Trailing slightly behind is daily deep cleaning and indoor mask policy. While we’re closely monitor when is the right time to lift our indoor mask policy, the hand sanitizer and daily cleanings have been folded into our new normal at Hillwood.

Vaccinations and Masks | The overwhelming majority of the volunteers feel comfortable wearing masks indoors (91%) and have been fully vaccinated (98%).

Availability & Next Steps | The majority of volunteers (94%) are ready and available to return to Hillwood by this fall. Similar to reopening the museum last summer, Hillwood will use a phased approach in resuming the volunteer program with different start dates this fall for each volunteer role. The phased timing will allow staff to provide a refresher training for each role, giving volunteers the opportunity to become reacquainted with their positions, learn what current safety precautions are in place, and share feedback and ask questions regarding their volunteer duties.

We are eager to welcome you back to campus and will be in touch via email with each volunteer role no later than the end of July regarding your return date, refresher training, and next steps for scheduling shifts.

Stay tuned for more details.
