We are delighted to announce Holly Scanlon as Hillwood’s new volunteer programs coordinator! Holly officially joined us Tuesday, July 15.
In her new role, Holly will oversee both monthly and daily volunteer scheduling, assist with recruitment and training, and provide on-site support to docents and visitor services volunteers (VSVs). Many of you may already know Holly from her past year of service at Hillwood, first as a museum assistant and most recently as a Security associate. During that time, she worked closely with many of you and developed a strong understanding of the visitor and volunteer experience.
Holly brings with her not only hands-on experience but also a deep appreciation for history and museums, having recently earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from American University. Her senior thesis focused on none other than Marjorie Merriweather Post, reflecting her personal connection to Hillwood’s mission and story.
We are thrilled to welcome Holly to the volunteer management team. Her energy, dedication, and appreciation for our volunteers make her a great fit for this role.
Holly’s schedule is Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and her office is located in the Butler’s House.
Starting in August, Erin Allen, volunteer programs manager, will shift her schedule to Sunday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., ensuring that a member of the volunteer management team is available on-site every weekend to support you during our busiest days.
Please join us in giving Holly a warm welcome when you see her around! Erin and I will also be making the rounds this week to introduce her personally.
Friendly Reminder:
Interpretation volunteers should continue using volunteers@hillwoodmuseum.org or calling (202) 686-8528 for all inquiries and updates, including scheduling questions and requests.
