With the display of War and Pieces in the mansion dining room, Hillwood will offer public tours of the mansion basement fallout shelter. These tours, led by specially trained docents, will be offered on select Wednesdays afternoons at 2:30 and 3:15 p.m. and are limited to fifteen visitors per tour. Tours are scheduled for October 16 and 23 and November 13 and 20 with more dates for 2019 and 2020 forthcoming. The tours will be advertised on Hillwood’s website and day-of by volunteers. Tickets will be distributed at the tour desk on a first come, first served basis. A limited number of tickets will be available for Hillwood members to pre-reserve in advance by calling the visitor information office at 202.686.5807.
