Children-Friendly Interactions Training – Recording & New Resources Available

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend our new training session, Children-Friendly Interactions at Hillwood, on March 30 and April 13. Developed by the Interpretation department, this training was shaped by volunteer feedback gathered through our Fall 2025 survey. The session highlighted the important role children play in the visitor experience, offered practical tips for creating a welcoming environment, and shared strategies for navigating more challenging situations.

Session Recording
The recording of the Children-Friendly Interactions at Hillwood session is now available on the 2026 Lecture Videos page of the volunteer website. If you were unable to attend, we encourage you to watch the recording to build confidence and feel more prepared when engaging with our youngest visitors.

Training Resources
We’re pleased to share two new resources to accompany the training:

These resources have also been added to the Volunteer Guidelines, Policies, and Resources page under the Onboarding tab of the volunteer website.

We hope these resources help support the vital work our staff and volunteers do to create a welcoming experience for all visitors.
