New Lectures on Volunteer Website

This gorgeous fall weather is creating the perfect atmosphere to cozy up and enjoy watching a good lecture! The volunteer website has been updated with three new lectures pre-recorded and presented by Chief Curator Wilfried Zeisler. These new additions join our growing archive of online content as part of Hillwood’s 2022-2023 mansion docent training program. The lectures and attendant readings from the training program double as continuing education and enrichment for all volunteers and staff. Read on for more details regarding the lecture recordings and upcoming virtual lectures.

The pre-recorded curatorial lectures are available on the volunteer website under “Lecture Videos.” For easy access, the video links are also included below. Please note: the lectures below on Marjorie Merriweather Post were presented in 2019 by former curator Estella Chung.

Upcoming Virtual Lectures

Mark your calendars for these upcoming virtual volunteer lectures, which are part of the 2022-2023 mansion docent training program. As we get closer to the lecture dates, a Zoom link will be emailed to volunteers. The lectures will also be digitally recorded and made available on the volunteer website under “Lecture Videos.”

Monday, December 5 (6 p.m.) | The Houses and Collections of Marjorie Merriweather Post: The Joy of It, Presented by Wilfried Zeisler, Chief Curator                                                                                                                             This lecture will focus on Hillwood’s new publication entitled The Houses and Collections of Marjorie Merriweather Post: The Joy of It. The book is available for purchase in the museum shop. Attendees are strongly encouraged to read the new publication prior to this educational opportunity. Following the lecture, Megan Martinelli, Associate Curator of Textiles, Apparel, Jewelry and Accessories, and Jason Speck, Head of Archives and Special Collections, will join Wilfried for Q&A.

The content is organized by class topics, with the list beginning with the first class in the program.
