These upgrades will also help raise internal temperatures in the compost piles, effectively killing weed seeds and plant diseases.

This improvement aligns with Hillwood’s ongoing sustainability efforts and reinforces our commitment to environmental stewardship – benefiting the gardens, our community, and the broader environment.

Timeline & Road Closure

The south access road (along the property perimeter, behind the Administration building) will be closed starting Thursday, June 26. This project is expected to take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete. The south access road is most likely to reopen at the end of July or early August.

Parking Instructions

Staff and volunteers who typically park on the south access road should park along the lower gate drive instead. Please enter campus through the upper gate, turn left at the crossroads, and proceed with caution down the lower gate drive. At the gatehouse, make a three-point turn and begin parking along the drive from the top. Click here to view the map with road closure and parking details.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we carry out this important project.
