Day of Horticulture, March 11<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We are rescheduling our ‘Day of Horticulture’ program to Monday, March 11. <\/strong>The program will no longer be held on Monday, March 4 as Hillwood\u2019s campus will be without water that day as DC ties in our property to the recently renovated water grid. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope many of you can still join us on March 11. Thank you for your understanding.<\/p>

No RSVP is required for this event and all lectures will be recorded and made available on the volunteer website shortly after the event.<\/p>

On Monday, March 11, doors open at 9:30 a.m<\/strong>. The program will begin with light refreshments and mingling with fellow volunteers and the horticulture staff. The first lecture of the day will begin at 10 a.m. See below for a lineup of the day:<\/p>

10:00 a.m. Inside Look: Motor Court, French Parterre, and Rose Garden<\/u>, presented by Sarah Bass
<\/strong>Join Sarah Bass, garden section manager, as she dives into the unique history of these garden rooms, and the exciting projects that took place in 2023.<\/p>

11:00 a.m. Bonsai with Jarett,<\/u> presented by Jarett Currin
<\/strong>Join Jarett Currin, greenhouse grower, for a beginners look at bonsai as he presents a quick trip through the history of bonsai and shares some tips and techniques to help anyone interested in starting their own arboreal adventure.<\/p>

11:30 a.m. Houseplants Anonymous<\/u>, presented by Matthew Leach
<\/strong>Catch a glimpse into the life of a houseplant addict with no hope for recovery. Matthew Leach, gardener, will discuss all things houseplants, showing off some of his own collection, and much more!<\/p>

12:00 p.m. 2023 Garden Update and Peek Ahead<\/u>, presented by Jessica Bonilla
<\/strong>There is always a lot going on in the horticulture department. Join Jessica Bonilla, director of horticulture, to catch up on recent progress in the gardens and to get a sneak peek of a few projects and displays coming in 2024.<\/p>
