Interpretation Volunteer Roles:<\/u><\/b><\/p>

Interpretation volunteers engage with Hillwood visitors and provide administrative support to multiple departments. For more information on interpretation volunteer roles, please contact volunteers@hillwoodmuseum.org<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Collections Volunteers<\/strong><\/a> provide administrative support to the collections division.\u00a0<\/p>

Family Arts Volunteers\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>facilitate art-making activities with families and adults at public programs.<\/p>

Garden Docents<\/strong> <\/a>conduct regularly scheduled garden tours throughout the spring and fall seasons (April through June and September through November, equating to approximately 22 weeks annually). They also conduct specially scheduled VIP, focus, and\/or group tours in the gardens.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Library Support Volunteers<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0perform tasks to maintain the smooth operations of day-to-day and long-term functions of the library.<\/p>

Mansion Docents<\/strong><\/a> conduct mansion tours, serve on-station in the mansion, dacha and\/or Adirondack building as needed, assist with public programming and special events, and assure a positive, enjoyable visitor experience.<\/p>

Metadata Volunteers<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>perform tasks that contribute to the continued progression and success of the Bentley Project.<\/p>

Visitor Services Volunteers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>greet and orient visitors at the tour desk in the visitor center, help visitors and answer questions in the mansion and auxiliary buildings, assist with special events and public programming, and assure a positive and enjoyable visitor experience.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Horticulture Volunteer Roles:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Horticulture volunteers assist with the maintenance of Hillwood’s gardens, grounds, and greenhouses. For more information on horticulture volunteer roles, please contact Drew Asbury, horticulturist and volunteer manager, at DAsbury@HillwoodMuseum.org<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>

Floral Design Support Volunteers <\/strong><\/a>performs horticultural tasks, involving limited responsibility, to processing flowers and producing floral arrangements, for use in the museum, visitor center, caf\u00e9, offices, and gardens.\u00a0<\/p>

Greenhouse Support Volunteers<\/strong> <\/a>perform horticultural tasks, involving limited responsibility, to produce plants for use in the museum, gardens, offices and other facilities.\u00a0 They assist greenhouse staff in propagating and maintaining a variety of plants in greenhouses, cold frames, and nursery and performs other related duties as assigned including occasional outdoor garden work.<\/p>

Orchid Collection Support Volunteers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>perform horticultural tasks, involving limited responsibility, to produce orchids for use in the museum, and other facilities, assist staff in propagating and maintaining most facets of the orchid collection, and performs other related duties as assigned.<\/p>

Outdoor Garden Support Volunteers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>perform routine gardening maintenance, soil preparation and planting in the garden as well as some propagation in addition to other related duties as assigned.<\/p>
